                                         Flu season

" EMS GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS "

By: On Behalf Of Erskine, Timothy
Flu season is approaching, and since flu is not making national headlines this year, the Division of EMS would like to bring the importance of vaccination to your attention and encourage all EMS providers to get their annual influenza vaccination (flu shot).

Multiple national advisory bodies, including the CDC, recommend influenza vaccination for all healthcare workers who have direct patient contact.

Please consider getting vaccinated; people with influenza, at best, feel absolutely horrible for 3 to 5 days, and at the worst, could risk fatal complications or transmit the virus to others which could result in a fatality. Thus, you are not only doing yourself a favor, but you are protecting your friends, your family and your patients as well.

If you happen to get influenza, please stay home until your symptoms resolve so that you don’t continue to spread the disease.

The Ohio Division of EMS strongly urges all EMS agencies to work with their personnel to see that they are properly immunized.

Please follow the link below for the CDC’s full recommendations and additional facts on flu vaccines. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6033a3.htm
