National EMS Culture of Safety
"EMS GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS "
By: On Behalf Of Erskine,
Timothy
EMS has been identified as a high-risk industry and safety
impacts more than just EMS personnel. Safety in EMS affects our
patients, EMS responders, and the public and includes factors
such as vehicle operations, medical errors, infectious
diseases, scene safety and responder health and fitness, just
to name a few.
Now, a three-year cooperative agreement between the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with support
from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA)
EMS for Children (EMSC) Program, and the American College of
Emergency Physicians (ACEP) has brought together
representatives from national EMS and fire organizations to
develop a national EMS “Culture of Safety” Strategy.
This is your opportunity to participate in this groundbreaking
initiative, to share your ideas and make your concerns
known.
NOTE: The Division of EMS does not endorse products or
services.
