Ohio's three poison control centers are all available 24/7 to the public and to EMS, HazMat, and other first responder units. They all share the same telephone number, 1-800-222-1222. Calls are routed automatically to the center responsible for the geographic area from which the call was placed.
For several years the Central Ohio Poison Center has also been available to some EMS units via 800 MHz radios. Recently they have had to discontinue that availability by radio on the night shift, but they remain open and available via telephone at all hours. The loss of overnight radio availability has lead to some false rumors that poison control is not available at night, and COPC regrets any confusion over this issue.
Rest assured, all three poison centers remain ready to help EMS and other first responder colleagues 24 hours per day.
