Govenor signs Bill 58 into Law
The Governor recently signed into law Senate Bill 58 which
includes
provisions for EMS personnel (EMT-I & EMT-P) to draw blood
for
purposes
of evidence collection in cases involving allegations of
operating
watercraft or vehicles under the influence. The bill will
become
effective September 16, 2010.
Please read the attached
letter from State EMS Medical Director Carol
Cunningham, MD, on this new law. It is extremely important for
all
EMS
personnel to understand how this will affect their
practice.
